Alan Kay

Alan Kay is a Solutions Focused change solutions consultant supporting clients in areas such as strategic planning, brand and customer experience implementation, stakeholder consultation and client-supplier alignment.

As a former senior executive in the advertising and marketing communications industry, Alan was Managing Director of the high profile Toronto advertising agency, Harrod & Mirlin, and before that he held a variety of client management roles at McCann Erickson in Canada and the US serving a broad range of multi-national and domestic clients.

Alan’s work is widely influenced by the theory and application of Solutions Focus to encourage attitudinal and behavioural change within an organization, and to help corporate and individual clients become more strategically focused. Some of his consulting work has been featured in a number of books including, The Solutions Focus, by Paul Z. Jackson and Dr. Mark McKergow.

Alan Kay is a founding member of The association for the quality development of solution focused consulting and training – SFCT – and has been peer-reviewed. A dynamic speaker, Alan makes presentations on a variety of topics at conferences and seminars, including the SOLWorld conference in Europe, where he maintains a network of like-minded Solution Focus business managers and consultants. An experienced facilitator, he is an enthusiastic advocate of roundtable discussions. In this capacity, he brings together business executives and professionals from various different fields, enabling them to share their knowledge and ideas over a wide range of complex business issues.

Alan is a past President of the American Marketing Association (Toronto Chapter). He received Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Medal for his services as contributor and board member of ABC Life Literacy Canada. Deeply committed to sharing his wide knowledge and experience in marketing communications and strategic management, Alan also teaches executive development students at the Schulich School of Business, York University and is a member of the Education Committee of the Canadian Marketing Association.
